@louiesmixtape: natalie cole’s musical legacy spanned 40 years across multiple genres. she scored a string of hits on both the r&b and pop charts from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. after taking time off to regroup and do some healing work, natalie reemerged in the mid 80s more successful then ever landing hit songs like “jump start my heart” (1987), “pink cadillac” (1988), and “miss you like crazy” (1989) into the upper regions of the pop, r&b and adult contemporary charts. this was the wave she was riding when she was asked to record “wild women do” for the Pretty Woman Soundtrack. released in march 1990, Pretty Woman was a surprise box office success hit defying every expectation. this helped catapult the soundtrack to the top of the album chart. natalie’s “wild women do” was released as one of the album’s lead singles. the guitar driven pop song broke into the top 40 on both the r&b and pop charts and reached top 10 in the UK. the following year, natalie reinvented herself as the queen of jazz when she released a cover of her father’s song “unforgettable.” the song and album “unforgettable…with love” became her most commercially and critically successful album with sales of over 11-million copies worldwide. natalie cole passed away december 31, 2015. #louiesmixtape #nataliecole #musichistory #1990sthrowback #1990smusic
