It’s not a symptom but Polyphonic perception is much more common in those with adhd and autism so if you’re interested do a test

People are misunderstanding what polyphonic perception is. It isn’t about hearing different layers of a song in general. Polyphonic perception is the ability to perceive and distinguish individual MELODIC lines or voices that are played simultaneously. Polyphony, by definition, involves music with two or more independent melodic lines that are heard simultaneously. Most people who are claiming to have “polyphonic perception” are not pointing out melodies, they’re pointing out RHYTHMIC elements.

I have to listen to the same song on repeat until I’m finally able to hear it as a whole.

If you can hear both songs in a mash up, that's polyphonic perception in music. Classical music is full of it

according to a real neuroscientist, polyphonic perception isn’t a special skill. it’s just a term used to describe how normal, healthy brains can distinguish multiple components (melodic lines) of a song or complex waveform

That's what I love about Billie eilish's music. she creates her music intentionally with multiple layers. I can't remember exactly what it's called, but she has a form of an audio processing disorder that allows her to see music differently than other people.

I looked up a study on this. What we are actively perceiving are polyrhythms. In the music world polyphonic songs are the separate melodies. Classical musicians versus pop/rock musicians perceive polyrhythms differently. Its so interesting
