@monstrofarm: It was time for this tiny Jade Plant to get a cut back. I needed it to branch out a little more and I thought while I’m at it, why not propagate the cuttings in water. Here’s how I did it. 🌱Start with a healthy plant. This plant was ok, could’ve been better. ✂️ I always disinfect my pruners and then remove my cuttings from the plant. ⏰ I didn’t for this prop and you can see what works for you, but you can allow the leaves to dry and callous over for 24 to 48 hours. 💦 Fill a bowl or jar with water 🪴 Place the cuttings in the water 💡Place them under a grow light or on a windowsill 3 months later I had ROOTS. A new beginning. #houseplant #houseplants #jadeplant
I recently moved into a house that had a whole pile of jade cuttings just left there, im not sure how long they were left their but they still look okay!
I have some in water but most I just shoved into a pot of soil.
Is it going to be okay or just dye in the soil as the long branches didn't have any roots?@

Trimming your houseplants is part of a proper care routine… and not just the dead stuff either.

My jade plant is such a DRAMA QUEEN. She’s growing but dropping leaves at the same time I trimmed her cause she was a little weird looking . I had her hanging don’t judge. But now I’m propagating her split ends 😅

I don't get how people say that cutting plants ruins them, they literally grow back even better

Do we have to propagate or can we just maintain?

Do you have to replace the water? My cuttings seem to get some fuzzy stuff around the part that’s in the water 🤔

Do you let the cuttings callous before putting them in water?

You can just pop the individual leaves somewhere out of the sun. Little baby jade plants will grow out the ends of the leaves. Crazy easy to propagate. The leaf alone can sustain the baby for ages.

I think the discoloration is called sun stressing which can be done with most succulents where you give them a bit too much light and it brings out cool colors
