I had to read Bullshit Jobs for a university assignment and it effectively ruined work for me. I am now at my first 9-5 and everything we do seems…bullshit

So many corporate jobs fit this description. It’s been so codified in society that not having a job or being untethered by the office is frowned upon or raises eyebrows or is seen as not as valuable. When really those creating value aren’t usually in corporate!

I'm a corporate compliance officer, and we're not an administrative function, we're a legal, contractual function. our role protects investors, which includes taxpayers. Not many jobs include a moral component.

This is why I don't have a fulltime job as an autistic person. Aside from saving lives, most jobs feel so meaningless. And I'm not interested in saving lives.

If you mostly work with Office ur work is performative. Mine is - I pretend to be busy and use that time to catch up with topics I like.

I think people just notice the difference between them being a teenager with free time to an adult with +40h work weeks, you don’t have time for internet microdrama like you did before so you see yourself missing on information and notice that having a job has changed your life
