It's mostly because the entire Gyrojet line was a failure. The rounds were horribly underpowered, the weapons had a tendency to self detonate, they were also incredibly expensive and the entire concept of the Gyrojet would require a complete retraining of all military forces.

BadOmen :
it was incredibly expensive to manufacture, would jam frequently, and was moderately inaccurate.

they also had the velocity of a mildly irritated bumblebee

gyrojets are wildly expensive & not that effective in short range, only after they've achieved peak velocity is it a viable projectile

It flopped because it would be wildly inaccurate, pointlessly expensive to manufacture, be less powerful ballistically than normal bullets, etc. There's an American version that Forgotten Weapons on YouTube goes over, pistol and rifle.

Gyro jets are cool and all but completely impracticable. They had a lot of issues and could easily burn your hand

I thought the gyrojet rounds were kinda buns because they weren’t accurate due to low velocity right after exiting the muzzle because it is a self propelled round causing it to be heavily affected by wind.

That sounds a lot like 60% more bullet per bullet

That gun failed feeding and ejecting primers… yes there was something that was after it was fired who project was scrapped after testing super bad gun but I will say it’s an interesting idea

LMAO :
iirc they flopped because they never shot straight. solid fuel rockets burn funny sometimes and the wobble maked them less accurate.

kinda reminds me of the blade runner blaster, that's caseless .44 (as of the RPG book)

I do not know about these, but I heard it was a common problem for caseless rounds to cook off from barrel heat when used.

Too many downsides to the Gyrojwt style pistols. Namely, having a "rocket" blast off in front of your face just isn't super safe. Might work alright for drones with the reduced gun weight and recoil, though.

All of the propellant is flying backwards if anything goes wrong that gun is exploding right at you that’s probably why they didn’t use it also I think it would have a lot of recoil, but these are both just my speculation so 🤷🏿♀️idk

They were never going to be anything more than a cool science project. there's just far too many constraints on the concept And that gyro jet in particular, is trying to do too many things at once while it hasn't Even worked out how to function as a gyro jet first.
