The Moxie available in the last 5 years in cans is not actual Moxie. If you can find the glass bottles, which is next to impossible since the pandemic, that's real Moxie with actual sugar and gentian root. The canned stuff is low quality ingredients and tastes different.

My uncle loves Moxie and says the glass bottles are the closest to the original taste so whenever I find one (they're nearly impossibly to find now for some reason) I always grab him one!

i grew up on Moxie..i LOVE it...but it doesnt taste good at all. (Thompson btw grew up in Maine I believe). i think it tastes like medicinal Dr Pepper. Lowell is great..enjoy the outdoor summer concerts of the Lowell Philharmonic! Now go to Sudbury and check out Skybar! and of course in MA we invented Marshmallow Fluff and aI think Fig Newtons.

I used to drink moxie whenever I found it growing up in southeast mass, I always thought it tasted like Dr.pepper with a lot of nutmeg and astringent herbs

We used to not keep soda in the house other than my stepdad’s soda which I would steal some of. It was moxie. I think I’m keeping it alive in southern NH because I buy it every two weeks at hannaford
