Idk why it’s so hard to understand that autism is just a way of processing the world and no one sees how anyone else processes the world.

I’ve heard people call it “low support” which fits better. It’s still really fucking hard sometimes. Often. Always 😅

please share what goes on "inside".. i thought it was neurology.. but if that is true people ought to get a brain scan to study possible differences. I was lead to believe that aspergers never intend to hurt others but don't agree as like you mentioned there can be more than one issue simultaneously occurring

I've been hearing the term "high masking". I like that better. I think it describes things much better.

this! 🤎 I believe my hubby thinks I'm "normal" because he can't or doesn't see my internal struggles 😓

High functioning = high masking, imho. It's just that we adapt more to our surroundings to fit in. I'm AuDHD, in the process of unmasking, because masking is exhausting. No one would label me autistic or adhd if they didn't know, but there are signs 🤪

I use the high/low description for people who dont have a clue. I’m late self identifying and my parents just think ASD is the typical non verbal, big stims and needing full care so “high” helps.

comparison is the thief of joy. Every being has strengths and weaknesses. Ppl on the spectrum are here to change the world. You don't walk in your purpose until you know thyself accept, love and don't judge yourself. So stop letting otheres tell you who you are. Achieve inner Balance and follow the path you came to forge.

that's why us 'H F aU' get told we ain't got autism or real autism or it doesn't affect us like the other or we don't need help like the others, or those other ones really need the help you don't, etc but I always says it doesn't mean what we feel in the inside isn't the same, what you see on the outside is just what I show you.

Thank you for articulating this so well. I was just diagnosed with autism at age 34 and trying to explain to my neurotypical husband what it is like inside my brain. Sharing this with him.

Thank you for sharing this! I find myself overwhelmed just with having to pretend I’m not overwhelmed. It feels like a funnel with a mile wide diameter on one end and then I dropper on the other. I never know which piece of information or combination of pieces. I’m supposed to say first so that I can keep the person interested enough to need more information before they decide something that is not true. I’m not good at it at all. I’m horrible. I cannot create a synopsis because ideas are complicated. It’s like trees and forests and ideas of ideas, etc. create images like movies and then you can walk through them and pick pieces and taking all of that and putting it through an eyedropper is not something I know how to do. I’m so grateful you’re sharing stuff like this.

Not important :
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone. Explain it as clear and eloquently as you did. This makes so much sense. I’ve always read that people with autism don’t perceive the world as people without do if that makes sense.
