The dad of my best friend when I was little was a taxidermist. For a typical taxiderimied animal (raccoon, beaver wolf etc.) the skin is carefully removed & preserved (tanned). A realistic body shape is made using a rigid foam form (called a manikin) that matches the animal’s species and pose. These forms are usually made of polyurethane foam and come pre-made from taxidermy supply companies, or the taxidermist carves one by hand from foam blocks or excelsior (wood wool). So yes, they're quite rigid and stiff. Not quite like wood, they do have some give. Feet (real or prosthetic) take beating every day. A taxidermied foot would last *maybe* a day. There's a reason that prosthetics are made the way they are now

afaik human taxidermy looks horrid. If i remember correctly it's really hard to hide the stitches on human skin (or any animal without fur or scales) so it looks very horror movie like very fast

There was a TikTok video on here a while ago with a prank caller to a taxidermist in the South… i feel like you could outdo that prank if you called and recorded that conversation about taxidermying a foo to attach to your prosthetic leg 🦿

I imagine pretty durable. yt people were making furniture out of black people so... like I had to be a killjoy but that happened. so I imagine humans are fairly sturdy for taxidermy. and furniture does bear the weight of a human so I guess you could preserve a foot well enough to walk on it
