i cant even get an entry level IT job. I'm 4 months away from completing my cybersecurity degree, i have 3-4 years IT experience (not in the US) i have comptia A+, net+, Az900 and a few irrelevant ones. honestly I'm considering applying for an apprenticeship in elevator technician at this point and just give up on this whole IT career thing

If your in college get certs and at least 1 internship then make a project showing you actually use what you learned and can apply it a project with automation is amazing. If you get these done while in college you will have a job after graduation most people complaining either only did an internship or only got certifications and never touched a project. Just like any job an employer wants to see you actually know what you are doing

Cyber security isn’t a career field it’s more of a career speciality. It’s hard to jump straight into a specialty. But if you do there’s nothing that’ll do it for you other than constant self teaching and enjoying it. If you don’t enjoy it it’ll be very hard

I don’t know which state you are in, but I work in politics in VA. Google just announced they are building a ridiculous building- in midlothian. They also partnered with colleges and the Governor’s office to build entry cybersecurity labs across the country, I’m on that team. There are not enough people to fill the 53,000 job openings. Not to mention, the story no one wants to talk about, when Boomers retire, there are not enough people to take those jobs. This is my life. I’m spending 10-13 hours a day working on solving this problem. Idk where this guy lives. Here in VA, we need thousands of entry level positions. Google investing 9 Billion in our state.

Hiring freezes, sure, oversaturation, sure, but I don't see AI taking over anytime soon, let's be real here. I think what's happening is they don't give u a well paying job, just because I have a paper, that u did a course. if u like and understand what u doing, u will most likely be fine. then again I'm in the EU...
