@jakeabrams21: Why the downfall of Hubs Life is a case study in enemy marketing gone horribly wrong. #marketing #hubslife #influencerculture #enemymarketing
It’s literally no hate to Hubs Life, like I don’t wish him to be unsuccessful. It’s just a wild move. He abandoned his brand. Imagine if KFC went only Vegan, or Disney ventured into 🌽

If I were to build my platform solely around my 9-5, gain a large following, and monetize it, then I wouldn’t quit my 9-5. The 9-5 became more than just a 9-5 and he failed to see that.

I’ve supported him for the last couple of years until I saw that live stream. It was so weird he was asking people to “pay his mortgage” with the galaxy thing.. never said a WORD about the victims. I unfollowed that night. I saw what everyone else sees finally 😢

If he has a sense of humor, can take being the brunt of joke, has some self awareness and a little humility- he can still salvage some of this.

I agree with you. I think he should have shared his existential crisis with his followers to “ask there advice” — they would be rooting for him to take the risk they were to scared to take. Totally different outcome from sneaking to a fake office.

Same thing Southwest Airlines pulled IMO. Bags fly free, no assigned seats - ceo said that’s not “our” identity. Actually it always has been!!!!!

He marketed himself as a ‘normal guy’ but he wasn’t. He owns a home in an upper class neighborhood in DFW (Plano) in his 20s. You can’t afford that without family wealth. That’s why it was an easy move for him to leave a job with benefits.

My issue is that he doesn’t take accountability. He calls his supporters “haters” when they ask him anything about quitting his job. His mistake is not communicating his career change with his core audience and renting a office pretending he still has a 9-5

Wait why did he quit his job if he wasn't actually making enough as an influencer to live off? Did he just get too cocky? Never followed the guy but these posts keep popping up on my fyp.

people liked seeing the “normal/average” working person represented, we don’t need more aspiring “influencers” begging for money on live so they don’t have to get jobs

As someone who works in marketing he also didn’t think or plan out his brand deal opportunities nor did he try to forecast what’s to come next with influencers. There are plenty of brands, esp the boring CPG brands I’ve worked for, that could have made for clever partnerships.
