The expiration year of your passport should be something you know by heart. And it should also be common knowledge that for travel, it actually "expires" 6 months earlier.

A couple years back I booked a holiday to Turkey for the next day, went to the bank for a deposit and back to the agency. The lady then says to me, do you have a passport? I never had one, mind you it was already 4PM. I went to administrative unit, that works till 5PM, made a passport, paid 89€ for to be ready the next day. In the morning I drove 158km, picked it up, and then another 110km and got just in time to the airport. I think there is always a solution 😁🌸 Fun story, right?

Is it not possible to get an emergancy passport at the airport? Here in The Netherlands you can get one last minute, in case you forgot it at home or it expired

You can just drive to Peterborough and go to the passport office, you’ll have to wait a few hours but you can get a passport on the day
