I usually say “thank you!” Or even “have a great day, thank you!” If I say “thanks” then it’s because it’s my hundredth email to a client asking them to approve their ad before the very near deadline. 😂

If a company is focusing on how I write my emails, which is professional and cordial by default, I don’t want to work there. They’re focusing on micromanagement rather than prioritizing efforts that could have a greater impact.

I don’t have time to think of a unique sign off for every email. Do you know how many emails we get a day? I use thanks for everything.

Within the company I tend to write “Thank you”. For outside the company I tend to write “Thank you! Sincerely”. Never knew there were norms.

Thanks comes across the same way as “Bless your heart”. If I like you or don’t know you – Cheers. To people at work whom I despise – regards. No warm or kind.

My company is so busted there are directors that have a signature that says thanks and they still type thanks so we get thanks thanks. I’m done

If you were asking someone to do something for you then thanks is appropriate. Otherwise leave it off.

Saying “thanks” when asking someone to do something always felt a bit assumptive. I’ve also grown tired of the “let me know if you have any questions.” I’m seeing a trend to not closing email at all, treating the mode like an instant message. Why does IM get a pass?

I write “Thanks” at the end of my emails… it’s so ingrained sometimes I even “Thanks” myself when quick emailing myself something 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
