Eastside Louisiana Fried Chicken is operated by Chelsea Jones, who’s been managing this family business for almost one year now. Her parents bought the space in the 1970s, which was originally a meat butcher shop, but given the increase of locations from a then new restaurant, Louisiana Fried Chicken, in 2007, Chelsea’s parents turned their shop into a new Louisiana Fried Chicken location.
Managing this restaurant hasn’t been easy for Chelsea. While she’s been running this family business for almost one year, she recently went back to school to get her bachelor’s degree in marketing, while working a corporate job.
For two years, she’d work remotely, with her work laptop at their restaurant, and would do school work there, while pumping out orders for customers.
Fast forward, she just got her bachelor’s in May 2025, and is currently getting her MBA, all while being a mom to a little boy, AND officially running this family restaurant. Man, give her HER flowers! 💐
And it’s really a family business, because her sister makes the sides (like mac and cheese, red beans & rice, and collard greens), and her aunt works there (when I met her, she was cooking food for orders). I even met Chelsea’s parents. Plus, her cousins works there too, making this the epitome of a family business.
For Chelsea and family, they don’t just wanna be a takeout restaurant: they wanna be a cultural space for the community. This is evident because for 6 years now, they’ve been holding a community feed event, which is free for the members of this community & neighborhood. They even had a Halloween event for kids, which a customer told me “was so fun, he can’t wait until this year’s event!”
Chelsea is so chill, very nice and down to earth. Whenever she’d interact with her customers, it was like friends talking - meaning - you can tell she actually KNEW her customers, and that’s why they keep coming back - that sense of community and friendly interactions with customers.
Special s/o to her aunt, Laura, and parents. I’ll be back soon for more chicken and sides, especially the red beans and rice, which I was supposed to only have 2 spoons, but I ended up eating it all 🤦🏽♂️😂👌🏾🔥
