How far would an extra $1,000 a month go for you? A Jefferson County man is accused of testing that using his employer’s money, and is now facing charges. Hi, I’m Daniel Wagner from the Patriot Punk Network, giving you the latest Tennessee news in 3 minutes or less. This is our Today in Tennessee Segment... let’s begin Round 1: In Jefferson County, a former Appalachian Electric Cooperative employee has been indicted after a TBI investigation. William Robert Gass, the cooperative’s former accounting director, is accused of using company bank accounts to pay his personal debts and expenses between October 2022 and September 2023. He faces charges of Theft over $10,000 and Official Misconduct. Gass turned himself in and was released on a $5,000 bond. He remains innocent unless proven guilty. Round 2: A wanted Aryn Brotherhood fugitive out of Georgia said he’d "sht it out with law enforcement" — the problem is, he must not have realized that Hamilton County law enforcement are willing to fire back. In Polk County, authorities arrested a suspected Aryn Brotherhood member who had threatened to “sht it out with law enforcement.” Harley Golden was wanted in Georgia for crimes including aggravated assault, attempted mudr, cruelty to animals, and multiple firearm charges. Law enforcement tracked him to a Turtletown home, where Hamilton County SWAT and Polk County deputies took him and his girlfriend into custody without incident. Round 3: If you plan on driving driving in, on, or around the Wilson County Fair in Lebanon, be prepared to slow down. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has temporarily reduced speed limits on sections of I‑40 to relieve fair-related congestion. The eastbound stretch between mile markers 235 and 239, and westbound between 244 and 239, are now down to 60 MPH. Officials advise travelers to slow down and drive safe whether you’re heading to the fair or just passing through. The fair ends August 24th Round 4: A federal judge has ordered that the Nearest Green Distillery — home of the Uncle Nearest whiskey brand — be placed into receivership, removing founder Fawn Weaver and her husband Keith from control of operations for now. The move came at the request of lender Farm Credit, which says the company has defaulted on more than $108 million in loans and is on the verge of missing additional payments. The court found the receivership necessary to safeguard disputed assets and ensure an equitable distribution if needed. The judge noted the possibility of keeping the Weavers involved in marketing to protect the brand’s image, saying that "By keeping the Weavers involved in this way, they could mitigate any potential brand damage that a receivership might entail." Neither side disputed whether the loans increased by $24 million due to misrepresentations of barrel inventory — barrels that the court says do not exist. Barrels that were supposed to be the collateral for the loans. The Weavers have blamed a former CFO, but the judge found that explanation unconvincing. Proposals for a potential receiver must be submitted by August 20. That was your Tennessee news roundup.
