Looks like she got her Explorer back for only $60. What’s the problem?

She should have had a release of liability. That would hold her harmless. Make the dealership fix it.

Same thing happened to me. Traded the car in at a large dealership and 2 years later I start getting notices. First it was tickets and it was in some tow/impound lot in VA (I’m in MD). I thought it was taken care of then 6 months later, I’m getting new ticket and fine notices. I doubt anyone got it out the impound lot. I think the VIN is being used on another car maybe?? It’s getting old.

sounds like the businesses are not following federal business law and also sounds like the local police are not doing their job I'm pulling these people over with temp tags that are like way out of date and in pounding the car so blame it all on businesses and the police department for not doing their job

She didn’t mention about surrendered licence plates to MVC. An important part of sell.

I donated my car in 2002 to st Vincent DePaul Portland Oregon and I received a speeding ticket in the mail a year later. I did my part but st Vincent DePaul didn’t do their part but sold it without transferring it through Oregon dmv.

it is YOUR responsibility to tell the state you are in that you sold your car ....not the dealerships..... YOURS and yours alone...if you don't do that than yes this can happen
