What the hell did 8 ladies order that made the bill $700? If I’m giving a $140 tip, you better be at my table waiting for us to say what we want. It’s not worth a $140. 2 hrs there and I’m giving $70 an hr. No.

Serious question: why don’t restaurants just raise their prices and pay their employees a responsible wage and get rid of this crazy tipping culture. This way…these sorts of things are not such a big deal. And tipping out is weird too.

I waited on a popular 2000’s hip hop artist at Chili’s. Party of 6, the bill was about $1,000. Chili’s didn’t allow for gratuity. I made $10 with a note to “call me for tix to the next show ;)” note. 🙄

I’m so tired of tipping culture I haven’t gone out to a sit down in 7 months. Take out only. 0 tip. Are servers poor or rich? Can never figure out it out. They’re rich when they talk about making 6 figures and not paying tax. But act poor when it suites them??

I worked at olive garden on mothers day, party of 12, bill almost $500, tipped me and the other server $10 combined, we each got $5, had to tip out, i lost money and left in tears, cuz i missed mothers day with my kid, my car had broken down so i had to walk to work, work all day, walk home and didnt make anything. mothers day was mandatory at olive garden for all servers.

I can’t math in my head but I can do 20% for tips in my head. Our server last night was brand new first night at Waffle House, my coworker tipped 30% on our bill and I gave her my cash

serious question: how do waitstaff 'lose money' on a table?? someone else in the comments explained the concept of 'tipping out' (which seems insane to me but regardless), but intuitively I'd assume you 'tip out' a proportion of the tip. but obvs then you couldn't lose money, so what actually happens? we don't really tip where I live, so I'm unfamiliar with the custom

restaurants should offer self-pick up options. You put in and pay for your order through a machine and pick up your order at the bar, drink refill stations too. $140 for someone walking over with food that they didn't even prepare is borderline disrespectful.
