I wouldn’t want anyone looking at me alive much less dead 😳

I want to remember my loved ones as they were in life, not by draining their blood and pumping them up with embalming fluid. I actually think that it is disrespectful to their body.

I've had sooo many families in my career that regret not seeing their loved one. Even if it was a cremation.

nope. my dad had an open casket, looked NOTHING like him. I saw him die, didn't need to see him in a box to get closure.

Just my opinion and this is a platform for opinions. I feel 😪 and prefer to remember my loved ones and the memories of when they were alive. Instead of laying in a casket and generally not looking like themselves, just saying 😉 Also, think the funeral industry should have a better way of disposing of the body, instead of injecting chemicals which wind up in the ground 🤔 seems barbaric and very very outdated and in the end who will care as the years pass 😉😎

The worst decisions I’ve made are going to look at my dead parents. It’s all I see now when I think of them. That vision has ruined my memories

I stayed the night at the funeral home with our son who had an open casket. He looked peaceful, like he was just sleeping. I'm not sure if there really is closure when it's your child.

I personally don't like it. They end up looking plastic like a mannequin. And it takes me a long time to get over that weird look. I'd rather remember them alive. A nice picture is enough for me at the viewing. Although Morticians, do a great job, they never look the same.

I think it depends 😬 sooo many "it doesn't look like them" and I just had that experience myself despite doing this for 6 years. He was ill for awhile anyway but it was even worse after being prepped. Even more to top it off, I wasn't allowed to take care of him. I genuinely think it would have been a different outcome if I was involved.

I viewed my great grandmothers body in an open casket which made me remember her in that state more than how I remembered her alivee. So for me closed is better

Having lost a loved one who had no viewing and not even a memorial...I can say thst without that it makes it very hard to get closure. I think even a memorial would have helped. It was like this beautiful person was just gone and not even an acknowledgement of their life. I just couldn't wrap my mind around it

No one likes it but it's reality. I feel that it's something we must go through sometime in our life. We grow up and learn to deal with it. Its scary but it's life.

That's what I grew up with, I'm getting more comfortable with 'just the urn' though. It depends on the condition of the body.

It depends on the wishes of the dearly departed. As well as the family, my great grandmother nonnie had a closed casket as she wanted it closed. It was better for the family.
