@lrphiz: The Abraham Lincoln statue and memorial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. I recently visited Abraham Lincoln National cemetery to see the graves of a couple family friends, and on the western side of the cemetery, there is a small park with a couple memorials: a Pearl Harbor memorial and this Abraham Lincoln memorial. The memorial has a statue of Abe with a bench in the back with two plaques on each end, the plaque on the left explains the history of Abe and national cemeteries and the plaque on the right has a quote from his second inaugural address. The bench has the symbols of the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The bottom of the bench has a quote from Lincoln’s second inaugural address that reads “to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan.” #History #civilwar #Abe #lincoln #president #memorial #nationalcemetery #cemetery
