I believe the commenter at the end may be right, this sounds very similar to the onset of schizophrenia symptoms and 25 is around the time symptoms start. The fact that everyone close to him seems deeply concerned by his behavior and recognizes this is not his usual self is very telling. If this is actually what’s going hopefully his family was able to get him the help he needs and he’s given the tools and meds to regain independence. Schizophrenia is super scary but just like other psych conditions with the right tools people can go on to live relatively normal lives.
