sensory issues like this are valid, this particular course of action is absolutely not. like it's fine to be this kind of a picky eater, though it's probably related to some sort of sensory food type medical condition like ARFID. But a line has to be drawn somewhere and expecting a restaurant to break the law around food hygiene for you is definitely well over that line, and if there isn't a single safe food, you can allow a restaurant to make you, then you probably aren't well enough to go to restaurants

When I want to go to a restaurant that I know my younger son won’t eat anything at, I will usually call ahead and ask if it’s okay to bring something for him to eat. (It’s already cooked and ready for him to eat) I’ve never had a restaurant say no because we are still spending money there and he’s a child lol. I can’t imagine doing anything like this as a full grown adult.

Imagine taking a girl to a nice restaurant and she only says nuggets. my MIL is like this. 62 yr old, won't eat vegetables or fruit and very picky. when we have her over she it's out 5yos nuggets for dinner instead of what we cook her. ridiculous.

I don’t like particular foods for sensory reasons, but the only time I ever complain about it is to my parents that’s it.

Absolutely *NOT!* permitted for health & safety reasons. Most restaurants / cafes carry gluten free deep fry products. No chef will take the chance of cross contamination.

My son has ARFID. We REGULARLY took weetbix with us to restaurants and paid for milk, as it was the only safe food we felt we could legitimately bring in. While I sympathise with the young man, he sounds old enough to have contacted the restaurant PRIOR.
