Have you been to kalamata it is gorgeous everyone is welcoming it is clean and is such a cozy city. I would advise a roadtrip on a car hire in Athens then driving down to kalamata through the Peloponnese is breathtaking.

I went to Athens for a school trip - they booked a hotel in legit the worst place in town (omonoia). It ruined the trip for me
