If it helps re the dust - my Dad works in construction and says they’re not allowed to sweep on site cos it’s so dusty and bad for your lungs, they have to vacuum now which helps contain it much better! Get a second hand Henry hoover - they’re apparently the best for that sort of thing!

What sort of insulation are you going to be adding between the walls? Sure you already know, but best to use breathable insulation and plaster to avoid damp and spooling in the longer term.

I think you should deffo clean up the fireplace for the log burner bit then I suppose it would depend on the room aesthetic?

You do know artex has asbestos in it and needs to be removed professionally

Try a gutter vac, they can handle hoovering that volume of dust and are very robust

definitely clean up the fireplace if you want a log burner! we didn't when we got ours and it ended up being super unsafe because there wasn't enough space for it, and removing bricks once the stove is in is really awkward 😂
