A train down to Le Touquet would be another super French day out - the beach is beautiful and the town is worth exploring although a little on the pricey side for meals in restaurants.

if you r a foot Passenger, NEVER USE P&O FERRIES. They treat you like animals and make you wait hours just to get on and off the ferry. Especially bad if you have a connection train in either Calais or Dover. Honestly would have been easier to fly.
