@gobeyondambition: Replying to @Liv_SF giving yourself the permission to have audacity is the first step. it’s not gonna feel intuitive at first, but you have to allow yourself to try new things! #confidence #audacity #delulu #harvard
Being comfortable with being uncomfortable is everything!

Spot on. I went to Oxford. On a FULL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP. Then I went to Stanford. And yet felt so small and insignificant because of these loud af people full of - more than anything else - just sheer audacity. I’m working on it.

Our son is 21 years old, employs 6 people, and has been making a ridiculous living since he was 16. He’ll tell you his success is largely due to what he calls “unreasonable confidence “.

Working directly with founders, I can confirm - the delusion is necessary. Unfortunately I just know I’m not capable of it 😭

I love Steven Bartlett’srecent quote - embarrassment is the price of entry. Sometimes you gotta put yourself out there to get what you want. Love your advice

So true about HBS teaching inadvertently teaching this! Case study method trains you on speaking up to share your point of view even when you know it’s a highly contradictory/unagreeable point

So true, my mum always told me to question everything and everyone and it works! People love to take “charge” in all walks of life, do NOT accept that.

There’s an amazing book about this: Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain. Harvard Business School as an example of a culture that often favors extroversion. She highlights the potential for decisions to be made based on the confidence or assertiveness of the speaker, rather than the actual merit of their ideas. A great read and encouraging for introverts!
