My congressman's staffer had a canned response saying, "The democrats are trying to twist this. He voted no because they were trying to attach it to a bill that would raise payments to our service members." I asked if he was going to vote yes on on that bill, why would he have a problem with this being attached? She said "Because it would delay payments to our service members." When I tried to question her how exactly it would delay it, she said she didn't have an answer but could leave a message for him. I asked her if he could email me or call me back with an answer to my question, and she said no. Basically, their excuse for voting against it is "for the troops"
