Honestly, I do think OP is the AH. Is it okay that the NN did that? Absolutely not. No no no. But it could & should have been taken up with her first and then escalated if necessary because this is her livelihood. I work with so many people that I don’t like but I would never take food off their table for something that had nothing to do with their job performance.

YTA Sounds to me like she was influenced by the older nurse who said she didn’t like her. However, if NN was gossiping so much she’s maybe not suitable either. But saying that nurses sit on their bums isn’t fair either. That said bad form on the people who knew the real story and not correcting NN. Better to have approached her directly.

NTA. Nurse should have just asked hey those 2 seem very close what is their relationship? FYI 1 of my older brothers (19yrs older) and I often hang out together. So many people thought we were a couple.

NTA. If the nurse had gone to HR (the correct path if you have suspicions like those) then this wouldn’t have been a problem. Instead she decided to trash the reputation of two colleagues with absolutely no proof to her claim. She won’t be doing that again.

I went home on leave from the AF when I was in my early 20’s, my dad and I were sitting outside an ice cream shop a few town from where he lives, someone he works with drove by and saw us, assumed he was having an affair and said something to him about it at work the next week, embarrassing 😳
