I think the biggest thing is be mindful of the train system because it sucks since there's no city loop and everything runs only north-south or east-west. So if you live on a different line from say your job or school, it can get expensive and time consuming to commute very fast, worsened by how crowded they get now days between normal rush hour on top of tourism. It's not as easy commuting compared to other cities like Nagoya or Osaka. But I think the main thing for me is the balance between nature and city. You have all the city accommodations, but there is a seamless integration of wildlife and plant life making it easier to escape urbanization when you need grounding. Especially if you live outside of the city center in most residential areas.
