@katietheatc: These are my personal experiences with nurses in sports! #athletictrainer #athletictraining #atc #sportsmed #sportsmedicine #healthcare #athletics #sports #nurse #ATtok
Yes agreed!! My school nurse is part of our concussion team and helps sends emails to our athletes teachers about accommodations.

I think it depends on the situation. I’m currently a one man show at a rural community college with unreliable local healthcare (high turnover, poor patient care, etc). I would love a nurse on campus to help with general med stuff/referrals cause currently it’s so hard to get kids seen locally.

I like to try to incorporate our school nurses as liaisons for teachers when it comes to concussions or if the injured student athlete needs accommodations in the hall/lunch/etc

This makes me think about an OT that works with ATs at a highschool or college

I wish the school nurse (that was better compen$ated that the AT) had to be on call for the same amount of hours as the AT…would have helped advocating to “coverage” and CARE.

I’m an ATC that’s getting my BSN and I would love to merge the two roles somehow!

At my college where I’m an MSAT student we refer most skin cases or other general medical concerns to the nurse at the campus wellness center first either for treatment or then a further referral outside of campus. Helps keep costs down for the students and avoid unnecessary trips off campus

We absolutely think that health care professionals of different disciplines can help support and add value to athletic trainers!
