Hawley retainer is the best. When I had the plastic tray it cracked all over and my teeth moved and the retainer kept popping out. The permanent retainer on my bottom four was impossible to floss causing tartar buildup. My hawley retainer has lasted me years with no problems. I have had no issues with my airway

The clear retainer is the biggest piece of garbage on this list. Pretty sure they just give it to you because it’s the easiest and cheapest for them. It’s almost garunteed to give you gingivitis, because of so much bacteria build up

when i got my braces off, i asked if they had clean retainers, and they said no, giving me the permanent one 🥲 i hate constantly going to the dentist because the glue falls off

I have the second one, and I never had gingivites in all the years I’ve had it. I have very little plaque if not no plaque at all. Instead of using floss, I use small brushes made for that. So what is the problem exactly? I’ve never had any problem, my teeth never shifted and I don’t even have to think about it since it’s a permanent retainers.

I was half way there with you but then you started talking bs. I have 2 and 3 and I'm doing fine. I use combination of regular floss and interdental floss, easy to clean and my teeth don't shift.

As a hygienist, I hate the permanent retainers on other people. I love it for myself though.

The clear tray retainers just didn’t work for me. Got holes in them, broke, lost them, didn’t keep my gap closed, etc. switched to hawley retainer 12 years ago and works like a charm. Love it so much

Makes sense! I lost my retainer about a month after I had my braces removed and it’s been about 14 years and my teeth haven’t shifted!

I can’t find an orthodontist to do an expander for me in Canada, they barely offer it anywhere, and then won’t even agree to examine me for one. I don’t understand why Canadian dentists refuse to do expansion.
