it’s physically not possible, the display would have to stretch out, because when it’s folded the other way, more screen is needed to compensate for the gap

why this is a bad idea: 1) the screen will never be protected. and the screens in folding phones are made out of plastic, so unless the phone is closed and not being used, it will be exposed. 2) it is a UI NIGHTMARE. it has been done before yes, but every iteration of this design has its own bugs and flaws, which is why this layout has not picked up in popularity, where as the Zfold has. 3) engineering a screen that can fold in and out is almost impossible. the screen would need to be able to pull in and out of the already very this bezels, meaning that one side of the phone would need to have a thicker bezel to accommodate for this (see the original motorola razr).
