The reason it’s hard for men to change and reform the patriarchy is because they have been conditioned from birth to be rewarded with compliance. This is a huge facet of white supremacy, to reward compliance and punish noncompliance and nonconformity. It’s why men are so submissive and we are seeing the rise of authoritarianism and so many federal police officers covering their faces with masks and defending their actions by saying they are just following orders. Men are submissive and don’t push against the grain because their entire life they were rewarded for compliance. It’s why men get a visceral reaction when you disagree with them. They have been conditioned to only accept one worldview and they get punished when they try to push against that hegemony. Men are so submissive because they have been rewarded for compliance their whole lives and have no reason to invest in changing that
