@consciouslycait: every day I get a comment like “lol what are you talking about… you can get pregnant every day!!” And to that I raise you: IF you don’t know how to properly track and confirm ovulation… yeah please for the love of god treat every day as fertile. Ovulation itself is a 1 day event BUT you have a fertile window of 5-7 days because your cervix starts producing fertile mucus that allows those male swimmers to survive. The time from your period until confirming ovulation carries the most risk and if you’re not confident in identifying your fertile window- this time should be treated as highly fertile. After ovulation has been confirmed and you are in your luteal phase - pregnancy is no longer possible. When ovulation occurs, your egg leaves the follicle. You ovulate once per cycle (sometimes releasing two eggs in the same ovulatory window). And no egg = no baby. That follicle turns into a temporary gland called the corpus luteum. The corpus luteum produces progesterone in preparation for a potential pregnancy. And you know what progesterone does? It forms a mucus plug to block anything from getting through. BUT AGAIN- if you don’t know how to properly confirm ovulation and/or you are relying on an app to tell you if you are fertile: every day should be treated as a day where conception can occur because you are just guessing :)
