If you’re not aware, Nas Daily recently released a misleading video claiming that Mauritius is made up of “100% immigrants.” This narrative is deeply problematic for a plethroa of reasons. However, the purpose of my video is not to debate that claim but to address the content creators who participated in Nas Daily’s video without knowing the narrative it would eventually push. As I mentioned in my video, I’ve experienced a tremendous amount of online backlash in the past, even as a child, under different circumstances. I know how profoundly this can affect someone. This is why I feel compelled to speak up—most of the blame I’ve seen has been directed toward these influencers. It’s clear they’ve learned from this experience. What’s most important is that the influencers involved have come forward to apologise, acknowledge their role, and share their perspective on how they ended up in this situation. Their responses demonstrate growth, accountability, and an effort to make things right. I highly doubt that any Mauritian influencer would intentionally create such chaos for themselves or the community. We’re all human, and sometimes we get swept up in exciting opportunities without fully understanding the consequences. Please remember to be kind and direct accountability where it truly belongs. If you disagree with this perspective and feel the need to challenge it, that’s fine.
