They're just not compatible. He may be a nice guy, but that isn't enough. In addition to using all his disposable income, I guarantee he is spending all his free time on the boat. He needs to find someone who shares his passion, and she needs to find someone who doesn't have such an expensive and time consuming hobby in which she has no interest.

You’re not compatible! Has OP tried having the conversation of “where do you see us?” Go over finances to see if it’s doable. If he doesn’t want to move fwd you know what’s next, compromise doesn’t mean selling the 1 thing you don’t like.

If he financed the boat, then eventually the boat would be paid off and his monthly expenses would drop. Plus they can look at expenses associated with it to cut down a bit to something more reasonable. OR they could pursue better paying jobs on their career tracks. OR she could take on more of finances in exchange for him taking on more of the workload at home.

Unfortunately, a conversation about romantic compatibility versus love. I don’t care how much you love someone, if what they need to be happy or what you need to be happy it hurts the other one, you can’t be together romantically. You could probably be great friends and just end the relationship amicably.
