I was an electron microscopist in the 1970’s. Mostly TEM, some SEM. Glass knives that we made ourselves. Glass photographic plates. Darkroom photographic development. It’s exciting what you can do now.

The most demoralizing thing I ever heard is that mosquitoes can still lay *some* eggs if they don’t drink blood. They can just make way, way more if they do.

Omg I remember reading about the C-elegans effort years ago. Really impressed that this has exploded into a whole field and that good science is being done. Question for you - do you think that this could lead to working simulations of earthworm and mosquito brains? Is a thing yet?
