As someone whos never seen Caberet (unfortunately), only clips of it, the issue I see is that his style of singing here does NOT match his words. Based off the lyrics shouldnt he sound broken, exhausted, jaded, hopeless & guarded? (pls correct me if thats wrong!) But He's saying he doesn't care about anything while belting & doing runs, which requires a lot of effort. That's the complete opposite of not caring. Instead of singing to convey hurt & emotional damage as Emcee, He's singing to show off his "vocal talents" as Billy Porter. He made it a song cover instead of an emotional character. Plus his runs are not good... 😬
