UPDATE: The gesture in the video comes from elders/representatives of the wider family of the offender, asking for forgiveness on behalf of the whole surname and paying their respects to the victim’s family. So far, two individuals are facing trial for the murder (under investigation). While it has not been confirmed whether the victim’s family has formally forgiven the immediate family (need more sources to verify) - there seem to be some reconciliation happening between the wider family members as seen in this video as they are asking for forgiveness on behalf of the whole ”surname” including the immediate family, to prevent generational feud. It has also been reported that the immediate family is being asked to leave the region to prevent further conflict and to preserve peace between the families. A gesture not of full closure but of courage and the first step toward coexistence, forgiveness and peace. This is still fresh so healing and full forgiveness will take time, but hopefully heading in the right direction. This also included a 90-year-old man who even knelt at the victim’s casket to pay his respects - supported by the victim’s own mother. So members from both families are at loss in this tragedy and grieving together.
