Yes, from Rio grande do sul to São Paulo people are extremely cold, unless you’re in a country side, people tend to be nicer. From rio upwards people are unbelievably warm, beaches, food and people are just unheard of, you should give it a go!

When I lived in salvador and moved to Rio I noticed people where colder. I think more north people are friendlier.

As an expat living in Brazil for a decade, predominantly in RJ & SP, my experience has been that Cariocas, Mineiros, Baianos and Nordestinos have been the nicest and most receptive, whereas Paulistas, Gauchos and the South in general haven’t been as much. Of course, this is anecdotal so take it at face value.

Aye i agree not so cold as a European though 😅 seriously now, I think the more welcome, warm and friendly state definitely is Minas Gerais, specially countryside , people are so lovely.
