We need a new parenting class called “it’s OK if your kids aren’t 100% satisfied at all times”. The level of rigidity our society is creating is going to be something special in about 20 years.

Normalizing bringing a device with a camera into the bathrooom is also a BIG NO for me when it comes to teaching children about boundaries and privacy. Like even if the camera isn’t on, I want my kids wary of a recording device anywhere near them when bathing. 🚩🚩🚩

These kids need to be BORED. Their tolerance for being imaginative is so low. I am dreading going back to school because iPad kids coming down off of the summer addiction is rough

I had a Barbie mermaid where the hair changed underwater and THAT was a game changer.

Kids survived for SO LONG before screens!!! Parents need to learn how to parent.

We need to start playing music for kids again I didn’t have a lot of screen time but my parents played me a lot of music and it can provide the same soothing feeling of having noise

My son flipped out for 30 minutes over his Magnet tiles falling over. Would screen time have immediately soothed him? Yup. Did I let him continue to have a tantrum so he can learn to regulate his emotions? YUP.

i feel like we’ve been having this “ipads are bad for kids” convo for almost a decade. why are kids even still being given them? it’s a wide known fact that they stunt development? what does someone under the age of ten POSSIBLY need an electronic device for? They have those smart watches for kids if the argument of being able to track/contact them.

i’m actually so sick of the parents being like “if you don’t have kids then you can’t say anything” we can SEE what this is doing to kids. screen time is bad for us adults. it’s even worse for these kids

The thing is, your kid doesn’t know what they don’t know. If they don’t know an iPad exists, they’re not going to freak out because they don’t have one. This is a parenting problem 100%

I threw an empty plastic waterbottle and a hotel plastic water cup (bc I didn’t pack bath toys) in a hotel tub on a trip last year and my preschooler played for a solid hour in there. We have fancier toys at home but the “random stuff from the recycling bin” method also works!

My kids love the bath. Like the bath itself is pretty much a toy. That’s crazy.

I agree with this fully. However, the world is a lot less safe. I feel this way about teens as well. We need to unplug as a society, but what’s the alternative? Esp if your kid has a phone/ipad in their hand the majority of the day. It’s not safe to let them play outside till the streetlights come on anymore. Idk, there’s no good options anymore.

I need you to be lying lol this is getting out of hand (it’s already been out of hand). But this is a new level. And I say this as a parent who is a SAHM and is a full time student online. I’m not telling parents how to be parents or shaming you, I just feel like the answer is not always the IPad. Play with you kid, read to your kid, take your kid for a walk, go to a splash pad, park, visit a friend.

My mom didn’t feel like raising her last kid so he was given a smartphone phone AS SOON as he could hold one. I have since adopted him and it took TWO YEARS of NO screens to be able to even watch a single tv episode without a violent reaction directly after. He literally had WITHDRAW symptoms for so long and continues to have nightmares from YouTube skits he’s seen.
