Those things are awesome. It uses directional freezing and freezes from the top down, forcing all the impurities to the bottom.

They make those so the bottom freezes last. It freezes from the top down because the bottom is insulated more pushing impurities in the water to the bottom.

it is called directional freezing if you stick around cooler without a lid in a freezer for 24 hrs you'll get a block of ice that is mostly clear if it completely froze the bottom will be the only white part
