They wanna gaslight us over what “the stare” is so they can continue to delude themselves with the belief that nobody can see them disosciate/struggle in public. They are terrified of people seeing their seams, which is ironic considering how very obviously curated their nonchalant “authenticity” is (to the point where millennials were “cheugy” for not editing out the first second of their tiktoks bc they didn’t feel pressured to perform in the same authenticity aesthetics). The irony is, if they weren’t so defensive and straight up nasty we’d have all stood up for them like, yea, you’ve got it rough, we did too, let’s watch out for each other. But who wants community with a bunch of low-watt jerks? I’m generalizing of course, our GZ comrades are wonderful and engaged humans.

"we stare at people who are saying stupid things" and the stupid things are "excuse me, can I get past you?" or "how many in your party?", to which they respond 👁️👄👁️. most of the time, I wouldn't even call it a "you're stupid" look. it's like their brain lost Wi-Fi connection and they're just deadeye staring. either that or it's a veneer of forced nonchalance with internal panic because they don't know how to respond to basic interaction in public
