I also have a bleach allergy! I’m a hairstylist that does bleach on my scalp for my bright colored hair! I get like scabs and my whole head peels off like a sunburn.it just isn’t painful when I use ammonia free bleach but still peel every time.

I’m allergic to bleach but not regular hair dye. And both have ammonia… so idk what i’m exactly allergic to in the bleach. Last time i went full blonde, i went into anaphylactic shock.

To add: I developed asthma from using bleach, and quitting bleach resolved gastrointestinal, reproductive, skin, and possibly even neurological issues (harder to trace because of the complexity of that system) that had been treatment resistant. For anyone in cosmo that has developed similar issues, it’s possible your sensitivity is beyond allergy level. Bleach is no joke, and is not well regulated in the US, and some of us are just gonna be crazy sensitive to it as a result. There’s not a ton of medical literature on it so doctors will often miss it, so you may have to do your own research on yourself by experimenting with removing or reducing exposure for a while to see if your symptoms improve.

Just found out I'm allergic to PTD and had to go part time to lessen my exposure! I've been working behind the chair for 6 years! My eyelids swell up and I get a rash on my hands and my scalp itches like crazy!

i wonder if you can advise. I had my hair bleached before and seem to be doing ok, but recently (maybe connected to different product my new hairdresser uses) I got a burn/ wounds on my scalp. but they always seem to be in the same spots. I also seem to get like a itchy/ leaking spots in the same area when my scalp gets sweaty or I don't wash my hair for 3-4 days. anything i can do about it/ what direction to go to try and treat it- with or without the bleaching part.

Have you ever had a client had their scalp bleached and they get a layer of sebum/flakes over their entire scalp and burns on their front hairline ? That’s happened to me and my stylist and I tried the sweet n low trick in lighter and it made it 10x worse

I have a client who has informed me she is allergic to the color, went to dermatologist and they want $$ to test her. She doesn't want to pay and wants to do patch tests with me instead.. called twice to come and never showed.. now is on my books for color.. I have to call her Tuesday after the holiday. Pray for my soul bc no no boo boo

I cant speak on allergies BUT my partner has a very sensitive scalp (could be allergic but im not sure) But we read to ALOT of splenda to the bleach/developer mix, and it worked!!! 0 effects from tje
