@donaldsdoggiehave: We saw you laying in the grass at the Tractor Supply parking lot and people were just walking right past you. You didn’t get up when we came over, but your tail was wagging and you looked at us with the sweetest, calm eyes. That’s when we knew something was wrong and there was no way we could leave you there. When we tried to help you into the car, it was clear your leg was hurting. At first, we thought maybe you’d been hit by a car. The employees told us you had been hanging around for months, wandering off and always coming back. But this time, when you came back, you were limping. At the vet, we expected to hear that you had a broken bone or maybe a dislocated hip. Honestly, I wish that had been the case. But the x-rays showed something way worse, you had been shot. More than once. Pellets were still inside your body. Someone had done that to you on purpose. It broke my heart. And then we found out you were also positive for heartworm and two tickborne diseases. You were already struggling to survive out there, just trying to get by. And then someone decided to make your life even harder. I still don’t understand how anyone could hurt such a gentle, loving dog like you. But what I do know is this: no one will ever hurt you again. I made you that promise and I’ll keep it for the rest of your life. You’re safe now, Ranger. You’re loved. Your life matters.
