@stonedge2010: I acquired this copy of Soul Silver on January 21st of this year, & quickly begin resetting for a shiny starter. I really wanted Totodile to complete my starter set, but never expected it to happen on the first phase. The resets took no time at all, & I don’t keep track of encounters for this hunt like I am with Ho-oh currently. But I hunted this alongside my other hunts in HG as much as I could. Today I had only done maybe 5 resets & BOOM! There Totodile shines! My wife & daughter suggested nicknames, but we ended up settling on Sapphire once we realized it was a FEMALE SHINY TOTODILE!!! I’m still shocked! It’s only a 12.5% chance for a Totodile to be female, so adding the shiny chance into that makes this extremely rare! Eventually, I’ll trade it over to platinum for some move tutoring & then back to this game to start the playthrough. Who knows? maybe some old friends from my HeartGold file will join Sapphire.
