@socialbybri: Their expectations were never your truth. People project their limits onto others every day, and most of us just… accept it. But you don’t have to live by the labels they gave you. You get to rewrite the script. Start now. #T#TheLessonP#PygmalionEffectMindsetShift #lifelessonswithbri
Which means.
Giving a negative person positive energy can also awaken the good or the positive in them.

"This is why we're told that we can only control our thoughts, feelings, and actions but not how others treat us or what they think about us. So we shouldn't waste energy worrying about other people's opinions. As long as we believe in ourselves, that's all that truly matters

I remember there was this group of guys, and they always expected me to lose at something compared to my then friend. I'm telling you, whenever I would surpass those expectations. I would be ridiculed. They would minimize my achievements, and guess what I didn't understand why until now. I always thought about it, but you just put it into perspective. They never expected a girl from my background to be successful

This is so true, I had a teacher who felt I was very brilliant even though I didn’t agree with that. He kept encouraging me, I later started scoring very high in all my science subjects, had As in my final exams, performed well in medical school and became a doctor. All because someone kept pushing me to succeed.

I'm wondering how this will work with special needs kids? Or kids on the spectrum? Can we believe in them enough to raise their self esteem so they can perform well academically and socially? Or is this just for neurotypical individuals 🤔

My grade school teacher (who shifted grades as I did, which means I had her 3 years in a row, grades 3, 4 & 5) had a very negative attitude towards redheads, she damaged my confidence on a large scale.

In my country classes are grouped as follows for example grade 1A, grade 1B, grade 1C etc. And so, teachers always have high expectations for groups in A and B whereas groups from C are always known as trouble makers and the least performing class. However, I remember some form teachers will always challenge this notion and one time a group C class had done very well in tests surpassing groups A and B it was such a shock.😂 Anyway this is true and we see it among families, friends, and work places.

I was once terrible at a subject with a teacher who disliked me, until I got a different teacher who I got along with, then I was brilliant at the subject. It's so strange!
