the real reason RTO was implemented was not in person meetings. It was to inflict the most cost and inconvenience on federal employees. Teams are still not located together physically.

We either work remotely from home or work remotely in a government building where none of our team work with distractions and inadequate space, bandwidth, parking, etc. RTO has never been about efficiency.

Out of all my meetings throughout the week only 1 is in person. Most of the work is halted so I’m watching YouTube most of the day. Very productive 🙄 with a 45min commute one way

A lot of these remote positions never had a physical office to begin with. So it’s illogical to throw workers in random buildings just for the sake of making them show up somewhere. Waste of time.

Just one point of clarity. Telework was available to many agencies and widespread prior to 2010. That’s just when the Enhancement Act went into effect.

Another Fed Gov worker here. Prior to COVID, telework was limited to 2 days per week. Not bad and provided work like balance. I am just waiting to return to that

I am back in the office and I have no coworkers in national capital region. My coworker are in Michigan, Georgia, Colorado, and New Mexico. Still meeting remotely. Return to work makes no sense.

I am there with my team and we still don't have in person meetings. Teams is just a lot more convenient. There is no point in making people come in, they just want everyone to quit.

Oh literally sounds like me. Driving 50 min to an office I don’t work with anyone in and no one from my team works in this city and I have half a cubicle and we join teams meetings with headphones and they can barely ever hear me. What a joke

It’s insane the level of retirement federal workers have. Don’t care Gen X get back in the office a few days a week and make it impact. It’s not about what you do, but who you interact with as well even with our different teams

This is 100% correct. I’m in a different agency’s office. We intentionally get no access to a printer, phone or other basic office amenities. We have no storage space for our laptop or personal effects and cannot claim a space as our own. We “move in and out” each day. Working from home was more effective.
