Simultaneous is a bit risky if your battery gets weak, you probably can't start at all. With sequential a few or maybe all engines will likely start and you can get back to shore.

I do sequential because i share ground wires between both batteries (twin engine setup) i feel i could overload my ground wire on simultaneous start ups
