@xpresioncultural: These pictures are part of a very special project/ photoshoot that honors the evolution of fashion. A photoshoot in which we styled our homegirls in our traditional Mexican dresses, in a way they would actually rock them, with a flare of their personal style. Indigenous fashion x street wear is not a new movement, it’s something rooted and deeply connected to our history and speaks to the survival of our culture and our identities as brown, black, and indigenous people of the diaspora. Fashion is a form of expression yes, but it is also a form of storytelling and history keeping. A way that stories, traditions and ancient practices have been preserved and passed down to us. Because of this fashion to us is about resistance, a tool and a doorway to the relearning and re-embracing those histories that may have been lost along the way. A way of saying we are still here. Welcome to a new era where Indigenous fashion meets street wear.🫀⛓️❤️🔥🌪️🪅 Our new dress styles will be up on our website in the next couple of days, so keep a look out 👀👀 Captured by @flor_indigena

I really do hope y’all are buying all the clothes from ACTUAL NATIVE street vendors or designers in Mexico, because many of these outfits are handwoven or can be made in a factory…. and usually people take more than a day on this. It’s not just style. It’s history and a look so please be authentic with it and make sure you know where it’s coming from not all of them are the same. Some of them come from indigenous backgrounds please make sure you’re talking about your sisters, WE ALL CAME FROM THE SAME LAND, this is traditional gear. Don’t abuse us like the white men would, if you wanna use Mexican/indigenous style too inform and educate the people you want go ahead!!! But make sure ur taking ur own history class, because this can’t be like the “Mexican braids”

This would actually be a cool style subculture. People are too afraid to express themselves with their clothing, so they decide to wear whatever is popular
