I was so enraged when the Khmer Rouge was never talked about in school growing up, especially after hearing about what my mom endured and escaped throughout my entire childhood. Such devastating history that more people need to be educated about💔

Everytime I hear Sinn Sisamouth, it automatically brings me back to my childhood hood. My parents played his songs all the time 🥹

For 1953 this is pretty advance for Cambodia. When I visited in 2005, even then felt kinda underdeveloped

War doesn’t just stop time it also takes potential, momentum and hope away. You mourn what could’ve been and I think that the most painful part.

This is why they were threatened by us. We literally had it all. We threatened their pockets, their “plan” to make humanity suffer. They saw our country was peaceful, educated, thriving, spiritual, healing, resourceful, loving, caring, beautiful, a whole culture! They hated to see it! Imagine how advanced our country would be today? How happy our families would be today? The generational trauma that dates back to this tragedy of losing our land and people to inhumane people. Give my country their flowers. They deserved so much more.

My grandparents brought my dad, and my 4 aunts during this time, I believe they fled in 1979 but I didn’t know this until as a kid I found out about the Khmer Rouge and asked them about it, never will I have a right to complain about the way I grew up…
