I don't understand why latin and ancient greek (and other "dead" languages) are still being taught by translation in universities, there's a reason why we don't teach other languages like that 😭😭😭

I loved learning Ancient Greek in undergrad <3 it’s a struggle but it’s so rewarding. If you survive one semester, taking all of them is so worth it imo.

I went to Greek school once a week for 2 hours as a kid because my mom is Greek & my dad is Cypriot, so they wanted to make sure I spoke the language & understood the grammar. I’m forever grateful because I’m fluent, but that shit was TORTURE

Latin also operates purely off of confusion and the tears of students. Took Latin all 4 years of high school. Got a new teacher halfway through, and the new one was incompetent, to say the least. Barely learned, and had to teach myself. Almost cried mid exam cuz I was so lost
